I recently relocated to Calgary and in need of an out-of-province inspection. Like most people I googled shops in our area and SW Auto was in the top three. After doing our due diligence we pulled the trigger on SW auto. We spoke to a gentleman named Matthew who was friendly and informative. They didn't have any appointments available for a couple weeks but took our car as a stand-by. I was impressed with the efficiency of the techs as they were able to work on the inspection during gaps of their exisiting work orders. Not only were able to complete the inspection in about 2 business days, Matthew made sure to highlight some of the key factors with Alberta safeties to ensure that we were able to get our car registered without any additional headaches. Clean shop, efficient techs, and knowledgeable staff. They will definitely be our first call for future maintenance needs!

Once again Southwest Auto comes through in a pinch for me. I had a tire that kept losing air and needed to be checked - with no advance warning I called and they said to drop it off for the day and they would look at it. Within an hour it was fixed and the problem explained... a very reasonable bill and I was off again. The staff ( thank you Matthew) are all super friendly and efficient.. do not waste your time or money at any other service places - Southwest Auto needs to be your only stop.

Moving recently to Calgary, I needed Out Of Province Inspection. I made an appointment with Southwest Auto Service being in my neighborhood. There were couple of problems with my car that needed o be taken care by the dealership since the car was still in warranty. The guys in SW Auto Service found the closest to me dealerships and made the earliest appointment for me, provided all the technical information to the service department of the dealership and even managed to find an umbrella for me because I forgot mine ??! The tech at Southwest Auto diagnosed IN SECONDS a problem caused, ignored and then misdiagnosed by the dealer we bought our CRV from. Then the tech did the appropriate tests to confirm the problem. I just moved into the area and found out my car needed repairs. I brought it to Southwest Auto for a second opinion and was so impressed with their honesty. They talked me through what they saw compared to what I had been told at the first place, made recommendations for what needed to be done right away and what could wait, and then got to work. In the end they really did save me time and money. They got the work done promptly and went way above and beyond in order to meet my needs. I was a loyal patron of the closest neighbourhood competitor for many years, but unfortunately had a disappointing experience which broke my confidence and led me to take the recommendation of a family friend to give Kevin and his team a call. Needing to ensure my car was highway ready with now very short notice, I let my friend take the car with her to inquire about an appointment at Southwest Auto Service on 14th street SW. Kevin looked at the calendar?he was booked solid all week but rather than brush us off, he instead stayed past closing and did the work himself, on the spot. This above-and-beyond customer service experience set the tone for the subsequent years I?ve now been a loyal and confident customer; he absolutely takes his direct and transparent approach to business very seriously and has always met the high bar he sets for himself and his team. When last I came in and discovered a much larger job was needed then time permitted in the day, my stress was compounded by the fact I?d be without transportation and forced to lose a day?s income. Kevin felt my anxiety, heightened as a single parent supporting two kids on very little as it was, and doubled up on manpower to surprise me with the early return of my vehicle. This gesture was completely unnecessary?he?d made no error needing remedy?but greatly appreciated, and speaks to his character and integrity. I hope we are fortunate enough to have this stellar team in the neighbourhood for many years to come. Thank you for being such a valuable member of our community Kevin!

I needed an out of town inspection for my car as soon as possible and I called around to a few places who were all booking like 2 weeks out. I talked to Kevin and told him about my situation and he was able to get me in same day as well as to do an oil change. It was all completed in a couple hours and was done before the quoted time, very impressed. My Acura dealership wanted 262 dollars!! for an out of town, a price that was comfortably lower here. I had a good experience and would recommend/go back.

I was first introduced to Southwest Auto on a cold, snowy day last winter, when the tire indicator light was flashing as I drove by the service location. I didn't know them but decided to ask for assistance. They put some air in my tires and sent me on my way, refusing to take any payment. So a few months later I decided to bring my car in for a tuneup and they discovered a warrantee issue, saving me money yet again. Fantastic service. I brought in my Corolla (late in the afternoon) due to a few different noises and a failure to start the prior day. The shop appeared busy but they assured me they'd start looking at it right away. I received a call the very next morning with a full diagnosis and upon agreeing to the work they had it ready that same day. It's been a few weeks now and it seems to be running well. Also, they gave me honest advice about the noise the starter was making, which I appreciated. I need some new tires so I'll be heading back to Southwest Auto for that work. Thank you.

We sent my mother in laws car to Southwest Auto Service to get it roadworthy after 4 years in the garage. We live in Vancouver and wanted to fly in and drive back. I am super impressed with Kevin's garage. I was given some very bad news by my dealership and popped in to Kevin's without an appointment for a second opinion. Even though the shop was busy, Kevin was able to fit me in to take a look and even took me underneath the car to show me some issues and explain some things. On the day of repair, the car was actually booked in for two days but I had unexpected guests and was hoping to get it all done in one day. Kevin made this happen. I had a great experience with SW Auto. My key was stuck in the ignition and draining the battery. Took it to Kal Tire, they told be it would be a two hour job, they had my car for five days. Released my car to me, but it wasn't fixed properly, key kept getting stuck in the ignition. After several trips back to the shop, they told me they can't fix it and I should either bring it to the dealer for a new steering column or buy another car, because it was going to cost more to fix it and wasn't worth it. Immediately called SW auto, dropped it off the same day. Next day received a call that my car was fixed and I could pick it up. It took them 45 mins to diagnose it and fix it for $140.00. These guys are very good at what they do and I will recommend them to everyone. They definitely deserve the five star rating.

I'm a middle aged woman who knows Nada about cars! A few years back, I had what I thought was a transmission failure. After consulting with 4 mechanics around the city (including the dealership whom I bought my car from!)I was very frustrated by what they were saying, mainly because I felt that they were taking advantage of woman and trying to trick me into getting a new transmission, at $5000! I then came across Kevin (because of online reviews!) who then told me it wasn't my transmission at all that needed to be replaced but simply a computer chip that had to be replaced. Due to his honesty, he saved me $4000 from those other vultures! I've been taking my car to Kevin ever since. I've had a few more smaller issues with my vehicle since it is a 2002, but Kevin has always straightforward with me. He will also let me know about looming issues so I can save up for the day that the repair definitely needs to be done. Thanks Kevin and the Southwest Auto Team! You're all Great! We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. I came in for a tune up and confessed I tried to fix my glove box and (surprise) made it worse. I also had a cabin filter on the seat I told them not to worry about because I was going to install it myself (ha!). I picked up the car and they had taken care of both at no charge. I just came from out of province a few weeks ago and had an inspection done, and decided on Southwest Auto after a lot of searching online for reviews. After leaving my truck, they called me back and let me know the work that needed to be done, which was the exact same as what my mechanic had told me when I had left Vancouver Island. Quality work, up front service, and quality care. Pretty solid service all around. I have definitely found my garage here in Calgary.

Nothing but good things to say here. I had an unexpected issue with my car. After googling and reading reviews of Auto shops close by I called SW Auto Service, not only did they get me in that day and had me back on the road the next morning by 900am they were honest with me about what it was going to cost to fix my car and what was going to be worth while for me. Thank you for the fantastic service getting my vehicle inspected. Being new to Alberta it?s always good to find a reputable auto shop that you can trust. All the people there were so helpful and took the time to explain everything they found. They have a great hoist out front that they can put your car up on and show the customer. Good service, but parts were pricey. For example, I was charged $400 for the exact same (same brand, same product #) timing belt kit that retails for $160 online/in stores. I have no qualms with paying a fair price for labour, but paying a 2.5x markup on the retail price of a product feels unfair.

Untrustworthy and will take advantage of you. I got my car inspected here as it had been idling funny for a while and then was running quite loudly (had driven it on rough roads). I was charged way too much to even have it inspected (From what I can remember it was $200-$300)...Then I get a call, 15 mins before they closed (so I couldn't pick my car up) and they told me it was going to cost me $3000 to do the repairs on a car that cost me $2000. I told him to wait to do the work and I needed to think about it and he told me my car wasn't operable and it wouldn't be safe to drive and wouldn't be available for pickup until the next day. I called him back the next morning and asked him if he thought it was worth doing the work or if I should just sell it for parts. He told me I should get the work done and either sell it or keep driving it and I wouldn't get any money for parts and wouldn't be able to drive it as is. I then decided to get a second AND third opinion and paid for the overpriced inspection and took my car back. Turns out I only needed a new belt ($55) and a quick welding job (under $50). SO I nearly spent $3000 on work that was NOT necessary. I think they took advantage of me because I am a young female who came in alone. Not trust worthy and clearly just want to make $$.

Had an oil change and inspection of vehicle. Upon receipt of my vehicle oil was not on dipstick and the inspection paperwork was weak and had far less information than they had talked on phone. Why do an inspection and withhold information. Friendly service but obviously not the service i expected when paying for it.
